National research programme Digital collaboration (PEPR eNSEMBLE)

Designing the future of digital tools for better collaboration

The eNSEMBLE research programme aims to radically transform digital collaboration systems, with the goal of making interactions more fluid, accessible and tailored to individual needs, while ensuring sovereignty, interoperability and digital well-being. The ultimate goal is to propose socio-technical models of collaboration that will offer everyone solutions tailored to their needs.

  • Programme leaders: CNRS, Inria, Université Grenoble-Alpes, Université Paris-Saclay
  • Programme directors:
    • Gilles Bailly - CNRS (Institut des Systèmes Intelligents et de Robotique (ISIR))
    • Stéphane Huot - Inria
    • Laurence Nigay - Université Grenoble Alpes
    • Michel Beaudouin-Lafon - Université Paris-Saclay
  • Budget: €38,2
  • Duration: 8 years (2023 to 2030)

This programme brings together scientists from different disciplines to develop new models of collaboration, combining human and artificial intelligence, and integrating technical, social, ethical and legal dimensions. There are many challenges to be addressed: creating hybrid collaborative environments, supporting sustainable communities or strengthening digital trust.

The applications are numerous: distributed work, remote training, citizen participation, connected health and collaborative research. By integrating intelligent and customisable tools, these new platforms will facilitate exchanges at both the individual and organisational levels.

On a socio-economic level, the programme promotes an open and sovereign vision of digital technology. By promoting the interoperability of services, it allows users to freely choose their tools, while helping to reduce the digital divide. eNSEMBLE is thus laying the foundations for a more inclusive digital technology that serves the public interest.
