The 'Cultural and Creative Industries' acceleration PEPR

Driving change in cultural and creative industries

Faced with digital, economic, and societal upheavals and increased global competition, cultural and creative industries (CCIs) must rethink their models of creation, production, and distribution. The ICCARE research programme aims to bring together researchers and professionals to support this transformation,
strengthen innovation, and ensure France’s long-term position among the leaders of the global cultural economy.

  • Acceleration national research programme
  • Programme leader: CNRS
  • rogramme directors:
    • Solveig Serre – CNRS (Centre d'études supérieures de la Renaissance (CESR))
    • David Coeurjolly – CNRS (Laboratoire d’InfoRmatique en Image et Systèmes d’information (LIRIS))
  • Budget : €25m
  • Duration: 7 years (2023 to 2030)
  • Prematuration-maturation consortium: ICCARE

Drawing on the humanities and social sciences, computer science, and professional expertise, the programme develops a unique interdisciplinary approach. It addresses crucial issues: limited dialogue between disciplines, compartmentalisation of sectors, lack of comprehensive analysis of technological uses, and the need for tools to interpret cultural and creative data.

ICCARE explores various themes: artificial intelligence, the metaverse, audience analysis, concrete solutions for overcoming crises, ecological transition, and innovation in creative processes. Its work will enable the development of new cultural experiences, mediation tools, and collaborative platforms adapted to the realities on the ground.

By promoting links between research and the field, ICCARE aims to strengthen the adaptive capacities of CCIs, structure innovation ecosystems, support the ongoing digital and ecological transitions, and promote the emergence of a more inclusive and sustainable cultural economy throughout the country.
